Inactive Inventory Process

  • Updated

One of the great features of Sendoso is the ability for customers to use our Sending Fulfillment Centers (SFCs) for storing and shipping swag and gifts. However, as companies evolve, rebrand, and expand, we understand that some swag/gifts may not be sent as often!

As such, we've implemented a process that will enable customers to efficiently communicate with our SFC team members about what they'd like to do with inactive inventory. Inactive inventory refers to items in our SFC that have not been sent in 12+ months.

This article will explain this new process and what to do if you are notified that your inventory has moved into an "inactive" status.

Inactive Inventory Process

If you have inventory that has been moved into an "inactive" status, you will receive an email letting you know. The email will ask that you review the items deemed "inactive" and decide whether you'd like those items to be donated or discarded. Clicking the link within the email will take you to your Inventory page, and it will be filtered to show which items are in the "inactive" status.

On your Inventory page within the Sendoso app, you can use the three dots on the right side of that item's row to let the SFC team know your decision.

If you'd like to keep those items and reactivate that inventory, you must initiate a Send that includes that item.

If you decide to donate or discard inactive inventory, you'll get the opportunity to confirm your choice before the SFC is notified of your decision.

FAQs

Are there other ways to resolve inactive inventory?

There are essentially 4 ways to resolve inventory that is placed in an "inactive" status:

  1. Reactivate the item by including it in a Send
  2. Setting up a campaign to return/send all of the items back to you
  3. Select "Discard" on the Inventory page
  4. Select "Donate" on the Inventory page

What makes inventory "inactive"?

If an item has not been sent from the SFC in the last 12 months, it will be considered "inactive".

Who gets the email notification about inactive inventory?

The owner of the item, or the person who created the product within Sendoso initially, will get the email notification.

What happens if I ignore the Inactive Inventory email notification?

If you don't take action on the items that you were notified about within 2 weeks, then the inventory becomes Sendoso property and we will take the most appropriate action to free up space in the SFC.

What is eligible for donation, and how does that work?

When you elect to donate inventory, Sendoso will work with our donation partners to confirm eligibility and will donate as much as possible based on what they can accept.

Will I receive a tax statement for the items I donate?

No, tax statements are not provided when items are donated.
